Tips for Getting the Most out of Your Practice Time

#1.  Keep a log of your practice time to motivate yourself.

#2.  When suggesting practice time for your children, try setting a goal of ten minutes for each grade they're in, 30 minutes for third grade, ect.

#3.  Practice during the same hour each day; make it part of your routine.

#4.  Begin your practice with a scale to warm up your finger and improve technical ability.

#5.  Practice sections you know you have trouble with, don't just play through the entire piece.

#6.  Practice trouble areas in different rhythms.  Begin slow and work up to faster speeds.

#7.  Practice with a metronome.  It's hard to tell in which parts you slow down and need additional practice on.  If you don't have a  metronome I highly suggest purchasing one, they range in price and are a great investment.
